Audio/Visual Broadcast and Film

Audio/Visual Broadcast and Film is a 9-week exploratory course that introduces students to the exciting world of media, broadcasting, video production, graphic design, and communications careers. Through hands-on projects and collaborative learning experiences, students gain an understanding of how ideas are transformed into engaging visual and digital media.

Students explore the fundamentals of mass media, production planning, scriptwriting, storyboarding, graphic design, and digital communication while learning to work as members of a production team. They gain experience using industry-standard equipment and software to create basic broadcast, video, and graphic communication projects under the guidance of the instructor.

Throughout the course, students are introduced to the creative and technical processes involved in planning, directing, recording, editing, and designing media while also learning about professional ethics, safety, consumer-focused design, and the wide variety of careers available in the communications industry. The skills and concepts learned in this course provide a strong foundation for more advanced communications, broadcasting, and graphic design courses in high school.
