Band

Band is a yearlong course that provides a continuous, progressive music education experience for students in grades 6–8. Students of all experience levels are welcome and encouraged to join, whether they are picking up an instrument for the first time or continuing their musical journey. The NFMS Band meets every day, allowing students to develop their musical skills through consistent instruction and performance.

The 6th Grade Band is designed for beginners with little or no prior musical experience. Students learn to play an instrument, read music, perform as part of an ensemble, and develop an appreciation for music. The foundational skills gained during the first year establish a strong musical base that prepares students for continued growth throughout middle school and beyond.

The 7th and 8th Grade Bands build on these fundamentals by providing increasingly challenging musical experiences. As students advance, they continue to strengthen their performance skills, musical understanding, teamwork, and confidence while preparing for more complex repertoire and performances.
